His Life. His Victory. His Sword.

Jesus: Be anxious for nothing. Just ask and I will send peace. It’s not a formula. It’s my heart’s desire. There is not a human alive that I would not die again to redeem.

*Why would He save your soul and not heal your body? Why would He die the most horrible death and not care that you're suffering? Did He endure mockery, was He betrayed by a friend? Did not the God who designed him, die for him, die for all men? Where is our thanksgiving? Where is our praise, that He who made flowers, came to earth for a grave? He walked on the ocean. He parted the sea. He stood on a mountain, broken and bleeding, for you and for me. Where is our honor, for He who is King, whose power to rescue is still offering? His heart for His people is still on display. It's there in the Bible. It's right on the page. But it's also within us and His voice speaking still, and His hunger to heal us so rich, so real.*

PEOPLE ARE SITTING AROUND WITH KNIVES in their hands instead of a sword. Prepared for battle on a plate, not in the field. They fight the enemy of their own making, roll him around in butter sauce and stare at their own reflection. The table is not prepared before us so we can invite the enemy but as a reward for a LIFE well-lived. His LIFE not ours.

The battle we fight is in our head. The weapons we wield are the words that we've said. The words that He spoke for our benefit.

There is no sitting down with a sword. Prop your feet up and watch it dance. To win requires motion, and revelation. We must know how to wield our mighty weapon. It has only one use, and it isn't against our friends. We do not fight the people He died and rose to save. We must know where to wield it. We must know when.

We must walk in the Spirit, which requires listening. Which requires time and determination. Backbone. Courage written in words, spoken from our lips. Endurance. It seems like too much, but if the sword is His and the strength is His and the wisdom is His, then we have only to lean on Him.

The pain isn't a mirage, but the fear is. The fear is a lie. The pain, sent to distract from the power we wield. A sword in the shade is still a sword, and the swordbearer, equally able to swing it. A knife on the plate is only fit for food consumption. Turn neither one inward. Aim neither one at our friends. Or personal enemies.

People aren’t the issue. It’s the devil working through people. Jesus loves the people. Jesus defeated the enemy. Jesus handed us the sword.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

“We don’t use worldly weapons designed to kill the body or destroy physical structures, nor do we use the world’s weapons of lies, distortion, manipulation, deceit, flattery, coercion, sanctions, or trickery. On the contrary, our weapons are from God and have divine power to free the mind, heal the heart, and demolish Satan’s stronghold of fear, lies and selfishness. (5) We demolish every idea, argument, doctrine, teaching or concept that infects the mind and distorts or obstructs the truth about God, and we reclaim the thoughts, feelings and attitudes into the truth about God as revealed by Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 Remedy)
