What He Delights In

"The Father sows the Seed to reap the harvest, and the harvest is us."

THE FATHER SOWED THE WORD in order to harvest the people whose hearts the Word was sown in. We always focus on the Word’s effect on us. But what of the harvest the Father desired to have? He sowed the Word to reap those planted by the wayside, those on stony ground, those amongst thorns, and those on good ground. He wanted all of these.

“Behold, there went out a sower to sow” (Mark 4:3)
“The sower soweth the word.” (Mark 4:14)

We focus on the distractions, what caused the Word not to grow. But what caused the Word not to grow caused the Father to miss out on part of His harvest. We read of the thirty, sixty, or one hundredfold return, and focus on what we get out of it. But this is what the Father reaps. He sows the Seed to reap the harvest, and the harvest is us.

We should see His perspective. He sows, and we reap revelation of Him. The Spirit of God, who is the life in the Seed, causes us to see the Father’s love for us. But the Seed the Father planted causes Him to reap a harvest of us. We become reflections of the Seed. Just as an acorn becomes an oak tree. The Seed planted in our heart becomes just like Papa God. And He enjoys the fruitfulness of His harvest. He enjoys us.

And it is not a one-time thing. He never stops sowing when the Seed is stolen from us. He never stops watering when the Seed falls on stony ground. He never stops speaking when there are too many thorns surrounding us. The Father keeps planting, and the life in the Seed keeps growing, so that those who fainted the first time, those who turned away, or those who didn’t hear, can be the harvest of souls for the Father at the next harvest.

No two plants grow alike. Some of us are further along than others, but when rooted in the soil of the Spirit, by the rivers of water He provides, we will become the beautiful garden our wonderful heavenly Father delights in.

“Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” (John 15:8)
