The Whosoevers

"A church without a heart for 'whosoever' is an empty room."

Which part of “WHOSOEVER” do we not understand? Which person did God leave out of salvation? We say we know the answer. Then we judge. But which person did Jesus refuse because they were (a) not dressed right, (b) not in faith, or (c) needed to give first.

There is a reason we are to “go ye” into the world. That is where the whosoevers are. Instead, we’ve built fantastic houses for our worship, worth more than entire neighborhoods. God is not against temples. He is the God of prosperity and success. He is against our spending so much time building. A building without people in it, a church without a heart for “whosoever,” is an empty room.

Our emotions lie to us. We know this when it comes to faith for ourselves. But when we face that particular person, we walk way around. We leave them to those “special people” who God has called to work with the poor, the needy. The refuse.

That person is you.

When Jesus said “go ye,” did He leave anyone out? Some of you “go ye,” the rest of you “sit ye.” I’m not saying we need to have a salvation parade. Instead, it is that we should be salt. We should be leaven, mixed into society. We should make an impact in every sphere of our influence. Parts of society become immoral because there is no godly influence there. No person speaking and living as Christ has bid us to live, spreading His goodness in our words and actions and morals.

It's tough. I get that. But we are equipped. When that objectionable person approaches us, when we are forced into a situation that makes us uncomfortable, when we need to speak into a situation that needs Jesus, we have within us the One who died for them. Who lives for them. We have the power of God and the wisdom of God within.

There is nothing we will face that He has not equipped us for.

Here is the burden of Christ. We lay down our troubles, our complaints, and instead, pick up what He carries. We shine Christ. Whether this means humility or boldness. And there is a place for both. In whatever He asks us to do, we stand out, beacons of light that cut through the darkness that envelopes people, cities, and nations. We seek individuals, people who are hurting, and turn them toward His loving gaze. But we stand firm in the face of ungodliness and refuse to compromise. As Jesus did. He healed the leper. He loved the Samaritan woman. He died for the Roman centurion. He defeated the devil.

Then He handed us the keys of heaven and say to GO.

“And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38)

“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)

“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.” (Mark 10:21)
