Shields Up!

"Knowing the Word will set you free. Speaking the Word raises your shield of faith, and faith quenches any fiery darts the enemy hurls in your direction."

IT’S A SHIELD OF FAITH, NOT A TARGET. It’s meant to drive the enemy back. As in, away. It is protection, yes, but it is also for our offense. With faith as your shield, you stand and keep standing. But with faith, you also cause the enemy to flee.

The future is forward, and ahead is where the enemy doesn’t want you to go. If he can keep your head turned, keep you gazing at where you’ve been, then your grip slips. Hold the shield in front of you. It does no good as a back prop. Stop looking to the left and the right but fix your gaze on the Master. Fix your gaze on His Word. It is His might you are fighting with, not your own. It is His righteousness which covers your heart. Self-exaltation always fails.

It is not by our power or our strength but through the Resurrection power of the Holy Spirit that we win. He put back together a body that was rotting. He raised it up and had that man eating a meal with his family that same day. He parted the Red Sea so that one million people could cross on dry land. He defeated an entire enemy army with the sound of broken pottery. And another with the footprints of a pair of lepers. Your problem is not too big for him nor too difficult.

Don’t listen to the rattle in your ears but listen to the voice of the Savior. Hear Him and speak what He says. Put His Words out in front of you. They will not return to Him void, but they will accomplish all that He pleases. And what He pleases is for your soul to prosper, for your body to be as healthy as your prosperous soul, and for you to not be fearful but to have joy and peace in believing.

Knowing the Word will set you free. Speaking the Word raises your shield of faith, and faith quenches any fiery darts the enemy hurls in your direction. God’s Word is more powerful than the enemy’s. Stop chewing on the problem and take a long drink of the Spirit. Lean on Him and He will walk you forward. Step for step into complete victory.

“As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.” (Colossians 1:9-12 MSG)
