Pete and Repeat Were On A Boat

"No reason to listen to the devil speak on repeat."

THE DEVIL’S ONLY GOT ONE PLAYBOOK—REPEAT. He’s been doin’ the same ol’ thing for centuries then wringin’ it out and doin’ it again. “I’ll steal their peace then kill their , and destroy what they have started.” And when we don’t listen the first time, he circles around and tries again from another angle. “Maybe I can trip ‘em from the back.”

Same ol’ game. Same ol’ storm. Same ol’ enemy.

The apostle Paul warned us that the devil had strategies and we must stand against them. So keep your armor on. Our Savior told us the devil was a thief and a liar and there is no truth in him. You’d think when we hear his nonsense, we’d recognize it. We can recognize it. James 1: 5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally.” Everyone has mental shortcomings. God promises to make us wise to who we are in Christ, to what’s been given to us in our inheritance, and to our specific circumstance.

Everything we need to know to defeat the devil is in the Word of God and available through the Holy Spirit. He not only wrote the playbook. He is the playbook. He is the power to make it come to pass. He is all the strength and energy, faith and patience we need. He is our hope.

And here is one of the biggest, most recognizable demonic strategies. Hopelessness is never from God. Never. Anytime we feel our spirits sink and that whining thought enters, “You will never overcome this. You’ll be like this forever,” yeah, God didn’t speak it. He sent His only Son to rescue us from sin and all the effects of sin. He came to give us unending hope. And a new spirit, a new way of thinking, and a new place to live with new rules to live by.

Romans 8:2 says, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” There are two kingdoms, light and darkness. When we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we are no longer in the devil’s kingdom and therefore, no longer abiding by his rules. As a citizen of the United States, I do not have to obey the laws of Norway while living and breathing in the USA.

There’s no going back into the past unless we choose to travel there. And no reason to listen to the devil speak on repeat. When that thought comes in, recognize it and put it where it belongs. Under your feet. Next breath, choose to say, “HALLELUJAH,” to sing God’s praises, to worship, and put the Word of God on your lips. Then focus your vision on God’s goodness and leave the devil swimmin’ in the mess he’s in.

Jesus seated us in heavenly places so we’d be above all that and smart enough to know the only One whose word we can trust is His.
