I Consider Not

Ministers frequently say to "meditate" on the Word of God. What does that mean? I thought I'd give you a practical example.

I was reading Romans 4:19-21 last night and rehearsed certain portions of it, applying it to myself. I will place the verse first. Notice the capitalized words then continue reading.

"And being not weak in faith, he CONSIDERED NOT his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He STAGGERED NOT at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being FULLY PERSUADED that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." (Romans 4:19-21)

Whenever I "meditate" on a passage, which has nothing to do with what the world calls meditation, I repeat certain words to myself. Each time I repeat them, they take on a greater and newer meaning.

It's like putting the instruction manual to a device into your thinking. My husband bought me an air fryer, and I have read the manual several times so that I know what it says and when I use it I know automatically what steps to take.

In this passage, I got "stuck" on three phrases: He CONSIDERED NOT. He STAGGERED NOT. He was FULLY PERSUADED.

Now, I know it's talking about Abraham, but the principle is the same for Abraham's children by faith. Faith is the principle being discussed here, after all.

Here's what I said (out loud) or some variation of this. I encourage you to take it for your own and speak what applies to you.

I CONSIDER NOT my back pain.
I CONSIDER NOT my bank account.
I CONSIDER NOT my emotions.
I CONSIDER NOT the information I do not know.
I CONSIDER NOT the nation's chaos.
I CONSIDER NOT who is or isn't elected.

I WILL NOT STAGGER in unbelief because of how I feel, how it looks, what the devil says in my ears. I WILL NOT STAGGER because I feel bad, because my stomach hurts, because my head is pounding. I WILL NOT STAGGER because stress is coming against me, because I don't know enough about what's going on.

I CONSIDER NOT and I STAGGER NOT in unbelief, but I AM FULLY PERSUADED that God is well able to perform.

The word "able" there means "mighty" and "powerful." So then, I changed it. "Able" is a weak word in English.

I AM PERSUADED that GOD IS MIGHTY AND POWERFUL enough to take care of me. I will CONSIDER NOT any other narrative. I WILL NOT STAGGER at the obstacles. I won't even CONSIDER THEM but will BY FAITH give GLORY TO GOD.
