Have Faith In God

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." (Mk 11:22)

Too much emphasis has been made on HOW deliverance will come instead of on God Himself. Minister Lance Wallnau put it this way, "We must have faith in the OUTCOME not in the METHODOLOGY of the outcome." In short, our faith must be in God, in His power to do it, and not in the laws of man which might be used to bring it to pass.

God works outside of natural or man-made laws. These are the words of the apostle Paul in Galatians.

"Tell me this: Did the Holy Spirit come upon you because you lived according to the law? Or was it because you heard His message of grace through faith? Are you so foolish? Do you think you can perfect something God’s Spirit started with any human effort?" (Gal 3:2-3 VOICE)

"You have experienced the Spirit He gave you in powerful ways. Miracle after miracle has occurred right before your eyes in this community, so tell me: did all this happen because you have kept certain provisions of God’s law, or was it because you heard the gospel and accepted it by faith?" (Gal 3:5 VOICE)

Laws are only any good if the people believe in them. A man who breaks the law didn't believe in the law, or he put no faith in it, and if he's made to pay the penalty of that crime then, once released, if he still puts no belief in the law, he will break it again. It requires FAITH in the law to be a follower of the law.

Taking this to an opposite extreme, over-enforcement of the law nullifies the work of faith. A church can write endless rules about what to wear, how to do your hair, and how to speak, and remove any operation of faith in the believers. The same is true of city, state, or national laws. Laws give parameters of behavior, but enforcement of them requires the FAITH of an individual.

To lay deliverance of this nation on laws and legal actions alone will kill FAITH IN GOD. FAITH IN GOD, on the other hand, can do, outside of laws, what the laws themselves cannot. A change in the heart of men, the exposing of injustices through a praying, BELIEVING church that has its focus on Christ and the movement of the Holy Spirit, will go far further than methodology.

Have I lost you? Well, consider this then.

Why can't we just change laws to be whatever we want? Why can't we just legalize things that should not be legal? Because of the character of God, and there lies our faith. God hates false balances and unjust weights. He abhors lying. He hates adultery, falsehood, and perversion. He is against the death of innocents and has told us to choose life. These things are concrete and certain.*

We must know the character of God to have faith in Him to bring a godly outcome. We must know WHO HE IS and put our faith in that alone. We obey the laws but not to the removal of faith because faith says God has charge of the outcome and how He does it is entirely up to Him.

"Now it is absolutely clear that no one is made right with God through the law because the prophet Habakkuk told us, 'By faith the just will obtain life.' The law is not the same thing as life formed by faith. In fact, you are warned against this when God says, 'The one who observes My laws will live by them.'” (Gal 3:11-12 VOICE)
