"Righteousness delivers from death." (Pr 10:2 ISV)
I read the best description of righteousness and wanted to share it with you.
Righteousness is not just a PLACE. When we accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we are moved from unrighteousness to righteousness. We are then in a righteous kingdom where God is ruler and Jesus is King. (Rm 14:17)
Righteousness is not just a STATE of being. We are made righteous through salvation. Our ungodliness is cleansed, our sins removed, and our hearts made clean, so we can have intimate relationship with Almighty God. We can hear Him speak and know how to act. (1Co 1:30)
Righteousness is also PROTECTION. This is what was revealed to me.
Minister Bill Johnson described us as salt, evenly sprinkled across the meal. It does no good for the salt (the church) to be clustered in one corner of the plate. (Mt 5:13; Lk 14:34)
But being in the world, being human and living as salt amongst those who do not share our moral behavior cannot be done under our own strength. Here is God's righteousness revealed in us. It PROTECTS us from pollution. We can be light in the darkness and not have our lights dimmed. (Mt 5:16) It enables us to walk in peace. We can live to a different standard successfully.
"Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness." (Eph 6:14 ISV)
How marvelous is that?
