The Writing On The Wall

King Balshazzar decided to pass out the Holy vessels his father stole from the temple at Jerusalem. He and his princes, his wives, and concubines laughed and had a good ol' time drinking from them. Then a hand appeared out of nowhere and wrote 3 words. MENE. MENE. TEKEL. UPHARSIN. (Dan 5:25)

The writing was on the wall, as they say.

Scared half out of his mind, he called for all his astrologers and magicians. Someone had to tell him the meaning. Problem was, it would wake a man of God to do that

There was no church in Daniel's day. No congregation of believers. He was an exile, living for God in a foreign kingdom. There was no temple there. No place of worship.

Daniel received the interpretation because he spent time in prayer. He kept his heart turned toward God in the midst of ungodly people.

God wants us to notice both the scorn of the king for God's ways and Daniel's strength to give him the interpretation.

MENE. Numbered. TEKEL. Weighed. UPHARSIN. Divided.

The Lord has made it clear to me that He loves this nation. It was formed to spread the gospel and be an ally to Israel. But there are those who have scorned God's wishes for it. Leadership both political and in the church who have drunken from the Holy vessels.

"Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Heb 4:13)

God sees and God acts. We are in the endgame. There are only a few pieces left on the chess board, only a few moves left to make. We must choose who we serve. Will we stand like Daniel? Or be slain with the wicked like the King?

Going to church is not enough.

"Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." (Heb 10:29-31)

He says to ASK and He will give us this nation for an inheritance and an inheritance for our children's children. (Ps 2:8; Pr 13:22) This is our job, to seek Him in prayer and order our loves right. We cannot be found sitting in the seat of the scornful. (Ps 1:1) We cannot treat this hour like it holds small value.

Because the move of God is coming and the holiness that will sweep the nation will also clean out the chaff. God's mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.

"The boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places for me; truly, I have a beautiful heritage." (Ps 16:6 ISV)

"And here we see that, God, You're moving
A time of jubilee is coming
When young and old return to Jesus
Fling wide, you heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord."
